Day Visits

Winter Retreat: January 5–March 31

The monastic community will be observing our annual three-month winter retreat from the beginning of January until the end of March, 2024. During this time you may still come for the 11 a.m. meal offering on any day, and afterwards speak with a monk. The weekly Saturday Evening Puja & Dhamma talk will still be open to all. Please check the website’s front page for general updates, and the calendar for possible cancellations due to winter weather.

You are always welcome to visit the monastery. The best time is in the morning, between 10.30 a.m. and 12.30 p.m., or earlier. Otherwise (from April–December) a good time is to join us for Sunday afternoon meditation workshops (1–3 p.m.), 5 p.m. tea and discussion on Saturdays, Saturday Evening Dhamma Talks (7–9 p.m.), or the evening (or morning) meditation periods at 7 p.m. or 5 a.m. most days (check the Calendar for details). The afternoons are generally not a good time to visit since community members are practicing in solitude from around 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.

If you wish to speak to a monk, come for the meal offering at 11 a.m. or just afterwards at around 11.45 a.m., as Ajahn Jayanto or Ajahn Anando or another senior monk is usually available to meet with visitors every day at that time.
